A useful business case study should explain what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain and what the reader could do next. For consultants and agencies, the challenge is often turning scattered project notes into that structure without making an incomplete project sound like a proven success.
AIM Case Study & Research Library provides a WordPress workflow for that task. Version 1.3.0 combines reusable briefs, 15 individually selectable analysis models, reviewed academic evidence and a background generation queue. Its output is an editable draft, not a verified account or a finished publication.
Start with the decision the case study should support
Before selecting models, define the reader and the purpose. A prospective client assessing a service needs a different explanation from a project team examining feasibility. The plugin accepts your project brief, audience, supporting source notes, uncertainties and call to action, so those distinctions should be explicit at the start.
A practical brief should identify:
- The project: What is being examined, and what is outside its scope?
- The reader: Who needs the analysis, and what decision are they considering?
- The evidence: Which supplied records or reviewed sources support the account?
- The uncertainty: What is missing, disputed or still an assumption?
- The next action: What should the reader consider doing after reading?
Reusable briefs and inputs restored per administrator can support repeated work. They still need checking: a previous project’s audience, assumptions or call to action may be inappropriate for the next assignment.
Choose models to answer questions, not to fill space
The plugin supports focused reports using one model and combined case-study drafts using several. Available approaches include SWOT, PESTEL, Porter’s Five Forces, CSR, evidence review, stakeholder analysis, business modelling, feasibility and scenarios.
A recommendation is to select the smallest useful set. A focused SWOT report may suit an initial discussion of a project’s position. A broader brief might justify examining external conditions, stakeholder interests and feasibility together. More frameworks can provide additional angles, but they also create more material to reconcile and review.
Use presets as a starting point
One-click strategy, investment, community-impact and business-development presets are available. Treat them as a convenient starting point rather than proof that a particular selection fits your question. Check the chosen models against the brief before submitting the job.
Each selected model includes evidence, assumptions and information gaps. The combined output includes a conclusion and proposed 90-day plan. These sections can help organise discussion, provided the editor checks that recommendations follow from the supplied material rather than from unsupported generalisations.
Connect sources to specific claims
You can supply source notes and attach reviewed academic evidence. The private academic library supports references organised by model, category and label, allowing research to be connected to the analysis being prepared.
The generation form permits selection of up to 15 reviewed academic references. An automatic matching option can attach up to five reviewed references using selected model labels. The overall limit is 25 combined manual and academic sources per case study. These are different limits; automatic matching should not replace checking whether each reference actually supports a claim in the brief.
Hypothetical example: assessing a proposed service
Suppose a consultant is preparing a case study about a proposed service rather than reporting an established result. The brief could describe the intended audience, available project notes and unresolved operating questions. Stakeholder analysis and feasibility might be selected, with relevant reviewed evidence attached.
If the consultant also enters units, price, variable cost and fixed costs, the plugin can calculate illustrative monthly revenue and operating result. Those calculations can inform the discussion, but they do not demonstrate customer demand or establish that the service will succeed. Missing numerical inputs are not estimated by the calculator.
Generate privately, then edit deliberately
Analyses run through a background queue with progress states and draft links. Matching jobs can be reused to reduce duplicate submissions, and temporary generation failures can be retried within a three-attempt limit. The resulting case study is saved as an editable WordPress draft.
The editorial pass should test more than spelling and tone:
- Separate observed project facts from analytical assumptions.
- Check that sources support the wording used, including dates and context.
- Remove claims of outcomes that the supplied project evidence does not establish.
- Review limitations and information gaps rather than hiding them.
- Ensure the proposed 90-day plan is appropriate to the evidence available.
- Check that the call to action fits the audience and the article’s purpose.
What to prepare before your first draft
The plugin runs on your own WordPress website and does not require other AIM plugins or WooCommerce. Version 1.3.0 requires WordPress 6.2 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. AI generation needs your own working provider connection, using an OpenAI API key and accessible model or a developer-provided AI adapter. A ChatGPT subscription does not configure that connection, and separate API charges may apply.
The practical next step is to prepare one bounded brief with a clear audience and a small set of relevant sources, then generate a focused report before expanding the scope. AIM Case Study & Research Library can provide the structure and draft workflow; the credibility of the finished case study still depends on evidence quality and editorial judgement. All copy and references require review, and publication remains manual.
